Date & Walnut Energy Truffles are a naturally sweet, nourishing treat designed especially for iftar during Ramadan, when the body needs gentle, sustained energy after long hours of fasting. Dates have traditionally been the first food used to break a fast, as they provide quick glucose, essential minerals, and fibre without overwhelming digestion. When paired with walnuts, which are rich in healthy fats and plant-based protein, these truffles become both satisfying and balanced.
This recipe avoids refined sugar entirely, relying on the natural sweetness of dates. Walnuts add richness and texture, while a hint of cardamom brings warmth and aroma that feels festive yet light. Cocoa powder can be added for a chocolatey twist, making the truffles more appealing to kids and younger family members.
