Shankarpali is a popular sweet snack from Maharashtra. These crunchy and bite-sized treats are usually relished during Indian festivals like Diwali and Holi. This Shankarpali recipe is made with Aashirvaad Chakki Khapli Atta, offering a high amount of fibre, protein, iron, and vitamin B1 in each diamond-shaped piece. The best part? Apart from the sweet version, shankarpali is also prepared in a savoury variant. While cardamom and sugar are the star ingredients of the sweet version, the savoury version uses black pepper, carom seeds, cumin, and red chilli powder to provide spiciness and heat. These flaky treats are known by different names; some call them shakarpara, others call them mishti nimki. In South India, it is called biscuits or sweet diamonds. Additionally, these are also excellent as a tea-time snack, serving as a great alternative to maida-based cookies.
