The babka recipe originated in the Jewish communities of Poland and Western Ukraine. Chocolate babka is a sweet, fluffy bread with ribbons of chocolate running throughout. It has a robust dark chocolate and cocoa powder flavour. Traditionally, it is made with all-purpose flour, but this recipe swaps it for Aashirvaad Chakki Khapli Atta, which contains the goodness of four essential nutrients in every bite: protein, fibre, iron, and vitamin B1, and is lower in sugar, making it perfect for individuals who do not prioritise taste over nutrition. Its name is thought to derive from a popular Easter cake from Poland called "baba," which means "grandmother" in Polish. Apart from this recipe, its other popular flavours are cinnamon babka, dried fruit babka, apple babka, and sweet cheese babka. Each babka recipe is doused in a sweet simple syrup right when it comes out of the oven. The simple syrup helps keep the cake moist for several days. This recipe may look intricate, but it is actually easy to make.
