For Sawan 2026, try this trending sabudana recipe that turns these delightful tapioca pearls into popcorn, not as chivda but as bite-sized treats. They might resemble sabudana vadas, but are much smaller, lighter and airier. They entail deep frying, but you can make them healthier by air frying. Sabudana is a vrat-friendly ingredient, and if you wish to include this in your Savan fasting foods, make sure to cross-check the dietary restrictions. For this sabudana recipe, you have to do an important step of soaking the sabudana pearls overnight. If this is not done, the tapioca pearls will not have that characteristic chewy texture once you bite into a sabudana popcorn. Post-soaking, the sabudana is mixed with grated boiled potatoes, coarsely ground roasted peanuts, green chillies, ginger, cumin (a paste), red chilli flakes, sesame seeds, chopped coriander, and salt. The dough is then divided into little balls and then deep-fried. Make Sawan 2026 happen, and upgrade these sabudana popcorn with a side of peanut and coriander chutney (not vrat-friendly). Make it with fresh dhaniya and roasted peanuts. While making the ingredients for the saudana pops, roast extra peanuts for the chutney as well. Add green chillies, curd, and lime juice, and voilà, your dip is ready to enjoy with the sabudana popcorn.
