Watermelon-mint-agua fresca recipe is a Mexican beverage that instantly brings relief on a hot and humid afternoon. It turns a simple fruit like watermelon into a chilled, vibrant drink that feels both refreshing and satisfying. With its naturally high water content, watermelon blends effortlessly into a smooth, juicy base, making it perfect for a light summer cooler. When paired with a gently sweet mint syrup and a splash of lime, it transforms into a drink that not only cools you down but also feels uplifting with every sip. Agua fresca, which means ‘fresh water’, is known for its simplicity and fresh taste. Traditionally made with just fruit, water, and a touch of sweetness, it has now evolved into something more creative and flavourful. This version adds a hint of mint for a cooling twist that balances beautifully with the fruit’s sweetness. If you’ve ever enjoyed a watermelon juice recipe, you’ll notice how this one feels a little more special, with layers of flavour that come together so easily. Whether you’re having friends over, relaxing on a quiet afternoon, or just craving something cool, this drink is always a great choice. It goes perfectly with spicy foods and grilled dishes, making it a refreshing addition to your table.

Description - Step 1

Make Mint Syrup

In a saucepan, combine sugar and water. Heat over medium-high and stir until the sugar fully dissolves. Turn off the heat and add fresh mint leaves immediately. Let it rest uncovered for 15 minutes so the flavour infuses well. Strain and chill the syrup for about 30 minutes before using. Only ½ cup of syrup will be required so reserve remaining mint syrup for another use.
