Directions

Description - Step 1

Step 1: Prepare the mixture

Heat a non-stick pan on medium flame. Add scraped coconut, sugar, fresh cream, and green cardamom powder. Stir continuously so the mixture blends evenly.

Description - Step 2

Step 2: Cook till golden

Keep stirring the mixture on medium heat for about 15 minutes or until it turns golden brown. The cream and sugar will bind the coconut, creating a smooth, thick texture.

Description - Step 3

Step 3: Add powdered sugar

Switch off the heat and add powdered sugar. Mix well so that it combines evenly into the hot coconut mixture. This gives extra sweetness and helps in setting the barfi.

Description - Step 4

Step 4: Spread and set

Grease a thali or tray with ghee. Pour the hot coconut mixture into it and spread evenly with a spatula. Flatten the surface smoothly for neat barfis.

Description - Step 5

Step 5: Cool and cut

Allow the mixture to cool completely. Once set, cut into neat diamonds or squares. Serve immediately or store in an airtight container. The barfi stays fresh for a week when refrigerated.
