Khapli atta is one of the most underrated flours, and people cannot get much of it! This atta can be a great ingredient for making Asoka halwa, a thick, gooey sweet first prepared in 1930 at the Aandavar Tea Stall in Thiruvaiyaru, Tamil Nadu. The person who developed this silky and melt-in-your-mouth halwa was P. Ramaiyer. It is a South Indian version of comforting moong dal halwa. While the classic recipe uses wheat flour, this one uses Aashirvaad Chakki Khapli Atta, which adds protein and fibre to each bite. This khapli atta gives thickness and a nutty flavour to the halwa. The fragrance of cardamom powder adds a pleasant aroma, while cashews are added at the end in this recipe for a delectable crunch. This sweet is commonly served at marriages and other special occasions.
