The classic comfort drink, hot chocolate, gets a modern twist in this Matcha Hot Chocolate, which combines the rich, warming beverage with the bright, delicate bitterness of matcha. A soothing and very fulfilling fusion drink, the earthiness of the green tea is balanced by the richness of the chocolate and the subtle sweetness of the maple syrup. The whole process of making this drink is quick, so you can relax and enjoy it whenever you have a little time for yourself.

Description - Step 1

Step 1: Prepare Matcha-Cocoa Base

Take a cup and prepare a frothy base by whisking matcha powder and cocoa powder with hot water.

Step 2: Add Flavourings

Add maple syrup, a dash of sea salt and ½ tsp of vanilla extract. Stir well to combine.

Description - Step 3

Step 3: Heat & Froth Milk

Pour a cup of oat milk and the prepared base cream into a saucepan and heat until they are barely boiling. Create froth by whipping the ingredients with a whisk or frother.

 

Description - Step 4

Step 4: Combine, Garnish & Serve

Transfer the frothed milk to the matcha-cocoa mixture and carefully mix. Add marshmallows, whipped cream, shaved chocolate and cinnamon on top. Serve while it's hot.
