Pani puri is one of India’s most recognisable street snacks, loved for its burst of flavours packed into a single crisp bite. Vendors across cities serve it with their own signature pani; some are sharper with mint and chilli, others deeper with tamarind sweetness. This recipe adapts that classic experience into compact pani puri shots that are easier to serve during gatherings or match screenings. Instead of standing around a stall, guests can enjoy ready-filled puris placed in small glasses. The spicy mint water and sweet tamarind mixture balance the potato-chickpea filling, delivering the familiar tangy rush. Because the pani is chilled, these shots feel especially refreshing during warm evenings, making them a clever addition to summer IPL watch parties where quick, handheld snacks keep everyone focused on the game.

Description - Step 1

Prepare Filling

Place the boiled potatoes in a mixing bowl and mash them until they are mostly smooth, with small chunks remaining. Add the boiled black chickpeas and gently combine, ensuring the chickpeas remain intact. Sprinkle roasted cumin powder, red chilli powder, and black salt over the mixture, then mix again to distribute the spices evenly. Finish by folding in chopped cilantro for a fresh herbal note, and keeping the filling aside.
