Maharashtrians celebrate the Hindu New Year (Gudi Padwa) in the spring with the customary preparation of Puranachi Puri, a sweet treat. The core of puran is a delightful sweet filling made from Aashirvaad's 100% organic chana dal and jaggery, infused with the warm notes of cardamom and nutmeg. The crunchy yet soft puris encapsulate the gooey filling, while a touch of rose water gives richness and a delicate floral scent. Hot Puranachi Puri, doused in ghee and enjoyed with celebratory thalis, is more than simply a meal; it is an integral part of the celebration. Ideal for Gudi Padwa festivities, Puranachi Puri encourages families to get together, share, and enjoy tradition.

Directions

Description - Step 1

Step 1: Cook the dal

To make chana dal, add just enough water to the pressure cooker and simmer until soft but not mushy. Drain any extra water and gently mash. This keeps the filling from being too liquid while still giving it texture.
