Cheesy garlic pull-apart bread features layers of soft, homemade dough or a crusty bread loaf cut into diamond shapes, stuffed with melted mozzarella and brushed with garlic herb butter. Its appeal is in the gooey strings of cheese that come out when you pull apart the bread slices.

Ingredients

¾ cupWarm milk
¼ cupWarm water
2 tspActive dry yeast
2 tbspGranulated sugar
3 tbspUnsalted butter (melted)
1Egg (large)
1 tspSalt
For the garlic butter:
½ cup (115 gm)Unsalted butter (melted)
4-5Garlic cloves (minced)
3 tbspFresh parsley (finely chopped)
1 tspDried oregano
2 tbspParmesan cheese (grated)
¼ tspSalt
For the filling:
2 cupsMozzarella cheese (shredded)
½ cupCheddar cheese (shredded)
½ cupAdditional mozzarella for topping
Alternative (using store-bought bread):
1Sourdough or Italian bread loaf

Description - Step 1

Prepare the dough (skip if using store-bought bread)

Mix warm milk, warm water, yeast, and sugar in a large bowl. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until foamy. Add melted butter, beaten egg, flour, and salt. Mix until a dough forms. Knead the dough on a floured surface for 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic. Place in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let rise in a warm place for 1-1.5 hours until doubled in size. If using store-bought bread, skip to Step 3.
