This Mexican hot chocolate recipe is rich, creamy, and perfectly spiced with cinnamon and a hint of chilli, and is the perfect Valentine's drink to share with your special someone. Unlike regular hot chocolate, Mexican chocolate incorporates spices that warm you from within (like cinnamon) and also has cayenne pepper that gives it that spicy kick. The entire recipe relies on the type of chocolate you use, so make sure to use high-quality chocolate for a smooth, luxurious mouthfeel in every sip. Along with the chocolate, the mix includes whole milk and cream, which makes it a classy yet comforting drink for Valentine’s Day.
Pour the whole milk and heavy cream into a saucepan. Add a cinnamon stick. Heat over medium heat until it begins to steam. Make sure the liquid does not come to a boil.
