With veganism gaining popularity across the globe, tofu is no longer an obscure protein source. However, if you’re still grappling with ways to use this soy milk product, then look no further. Grilled tofu is not only an easy enough recipe to prepare, but also one that packs in a whole range of flavour texture. Enjoy with a side salad, herbed rice, or as is. It won’t disappoint!
Slice the tofu into equal-size blocks. Wrap each block in a paper towel and place a heavy weight (or a pan) on top. Let it sit for 30 minutes to squeeze out excess water. This helps tofu crisp up and prevents sticking on the grill.
Description - Step 2
Season the tofu
Preheat the grill pan to medium-high heat. Now, season the tofu. In a bowl, add oil, chilli and garlic powders, soy sauce, salt, and cornstarch (if using). Now, use your hands to coat the tofu slabs on all sides.
Description - Step 3
Grill the tofu
Spray the grill gates with oil. Now, grill the tofu until char marks form on the slabs. It should take about 3 minutes per side. Remove from the grill, and serve with lime wedges and a dip of your choice.
