For Tempering:
2 tbspGhee
½ tspMustard seeds
¼ tspAsafoetida
5–6Curry leaves

Step 1: Cook the dal

Pressure cook the soaked pigeon peas in 4 cups of water along with half the turmeric powder until 4–5 whistles. Once done, let the pressure release naturally and mash the dal well.
