If you’re fasting during Navratri, add some variety to your meals with singhara dumplings. Made from singhara (water chestnut) flour, the dumplings are gluten-free, taste amazing, and come together in under an hour. You can choose to temper the dumplings with a spiced oil preparation of cumin, chillies, and sesame seeds in ghee for added flavor.

Ingredients

1 cupSinghade ka aatta (water chestnut flour)
¾ cupWater (use boiling water)
1 tbspOil for greasing
¼ tspRock salt (sendha namak)
1 cupRaw papaya, peeled and grated
½ cupGrated carrot (swap with sweet potato)
½ cup Spinach, finely chopped & drained (packed)
1Green chili, finely chopped (optional)
½ tspCumin seeds
1 tspGhee or oil
to taste Rock salt (senda namak)

Description - Step 1

Step 1: Cook the filling

Chop all the vegetables and keep them ready. In a pan, heat some oil or ghee. Add cumin seeds and green chili. Once they start sizzling, add in the grated papaya and carrots and sauté on medium heat for ~4 minutes until the vegetables soften, but don’t turn mushy. Add chopped spinach at the end and cook until it’s wilted. Season with rock salt. Remove from heat and let cool briefly.
