From spicy to savoury, each bite tells a story of cultural exchange and culinary evolution. So, whether you're a food enthusiast or just looking to explore new flavours, India's chicken dishes are sure to delight your palate!

Chicken

Established by the late Kundan Lal Gujral in 1947, this legendary eatery traces its roots to Peshawar (now Pakistan), where a simple tandoor was transformed into a hub of culinary innovation.

The iconic butter chicken, that has made India a global foodie destination, is a testament to Kundan Lal's culinary genius — he used leftover Tandoori Chicken in a tomato-based gravy and blended it with a good amount of cream and butter. Beyond Butter Chicken, Moti Mahal's menu is a delight for chicken lovers, featuring tantalising dishes like Chicken kebabs, Murg Punjab da masala, and Chicken Tikka Masala.

Parsi Perfection at Britannia & Co., Mumbai

Since 1923, Britannia & Co. has been a proud establishment in Mumbai. The late Boman Rashid Kohinoor founded this quaint Parsi restaurant in a colonial bungalow in Ballard Estate.

Their Chicken Berry Pulao, a delicacy introduced by Mr. Rashid's wife in 1982, is a must-try. You can also try their succulent Sali Chicken, Chicken Dhansak, Chicken Farcha and Chicken Cutlets. The restaurant has maintained the authentic taste of the chicken dishes since the inception of the restaurant.

Nizam’s, Kolkata — The Birthplace of Kathi rolls

In the heart of Kolkata lies Nizam’s , a culinary landmark established in 1932 by Raza Hassan Saheb. To meet the ever-increasing demand for their delectable meat kebab and egg parantha rolls, they started using bamboo skewers (cheaper and easier to store) instead of iron skewers (expensive and heavy) and thus became the birthplace of Kathi rolls — the Bengali word kathi translates to stick. Apart from their Chicken Kathi Rolls, Nizam's is also famous for Chicken Seekh Kebab, Chicken Biryani, and many other delicious chicken dishes.

Biryani Bliss at Paradise Biryani, Hyderabad

Chicken

No culinary journey through India is complete without a taste of Hyderabad's famous biryani. Paradise Biryani was started in 1953 as a small canteen in Paradise Cinema theatre, serving their signature Hyderabadi Dum biryani. This dish is a balance of delicious chicken or mutton pieces blended with aromatic basmati rice, the right touch of spices and cooked to perfection in a traditional ‘dum’ style. Apart from biryanis, Paradise Biryani also serves delightful Tangdi Kebabs, Tikkas, Masala prawns, Chicken 65 and several other items.
