Preheat your oven to 175°C (350°F).
Grease and line a 9x5-inch loaf pan with parchment paper.
In a mixing bowl, mash the ripe bananas with a fork until smooth.
Stir the melted butter into the mashed bananas.
Gently fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture, being careful not to over mix.
You want the batter to remain a bit lumpy.
If you want, feel free to toss in some nuts or chocolate chips.
Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan.
Bake for 50-55 minutes at 350°F (175°C) or until a toothpick inserted in the centre comes out clean.
If the outer layer of the loaf is already browned but centre is still wet then loosely tent the loaf with a foil and continue baking.
Allow the bread to cool in the pan for a few minutes.
Then, remove the bread from the pan and let it cool completely before serving.
Slice the banana bread into nice, even pieces and arrange them on a wooden board or a dessert plate, fanning them out a bit for that charming, rustic look.
Enjoy this treat with a steaming cup of coffee or even a refreshing glass of cold milk. It also makes a delightful companion to a light fruit salad for breakfast.
For a finishing touch, dust the loaf with a sprinkle of powdered sugar or drizzle it with some melted chocolate. You can also toss on some extra walnut pieces for that perfect crunch.
