Indulge in Sheermal, a delicious Indian sweet bread made from cardamom, rose water, milk, and ghee!

Refined wheat flour
2 cups
Semolina
1/3 cup
Powder sugar
1/4 cup
Cooking soda
1 tsp
Salt
a pinch
Rabri( thick whole milk)
3/4 cup
Desi ghee
5 large spoons
Sugar syrup
1 cup
Mix dry fruits chopped ( almonds,cashews, pistachio)
1 cup
Cardamom powder
1 tsp
Milk
1/2 cup
Rose water
6 spoons

Directions

Make the Dough

Duration icon20 minutes (preparation time)

Mix refined flour, semolina, cooking soda, salt, rRabri, 2 tablespoons of desi ghee, and milk together. Make a smooth dough, and let it rest for 10 minutes. Check the texture and add cardamom powder and 2 more tablespoons of ghee. Knead the dough for 2 minutes. Cover with a damp cloth and keep aside for 1 hour.

Shape the Dough

Preheat an oven to 200 degrees for 10 minutes. Divide the dough into 6 parts, and shape them like balls. On a floured surface, place the dough and add 1 spoon of rose water. Pat the dough, then add the chopped dry fruits and press evenly. Roll the dough into a thick flat bread. Repeat this process with the other dough balls.

Bake the Dough

Line a baking tray with parchment paper and grease with ghee. Bake the flatbreads for 20 minutes, or until golden in colour.

Glaze the Sheermal and Serve

  • Once the Sheermal is baked, brush both sides with melted ghee and apply the sugar syrup.
  • Cut the Sheermal into slices. The Sheermal is now ready. You can store it for up-to 2 weeks!
